07年八月中香港掛起8號颱風訊號的一天，
從電視晚間新聞看到一群紮鐵工人，
在強風中遊行到中環政府總部。
在電視螢幕上看到他們高叫口號、
衝出馬路、更有紮鐵工人躺臥於街道上，
報導員緊張地報導。那是個8號颱風訊號的日子啊!
紮鐵工人臥在街道上!
為什麼？
第二天差不多全港的報紙都在頭版報導，對紮鐵工人責難。
多日後他們再一次遊行，從維園行去中環政府總部。
我決定去參加，因為想知道事件的真相。
那日天氣晴朗，太陽晒著皮膚，
紮鐵工人赤著膊，堅舉起大如飽子的拳頭，
高叫口號：「擔得起條鐵、擔唔起頭家」!
他們經歷了36天的抗爭，得到卑微的小勝。
而我決定畫下自己三次參加遊行的現場紀事。

撐扎鐵佬之文化行動dvd–出爐喇！
2007年8、9月间，扎鐵佬罷工成爲城中大事36天，在商業和独立媒体的文字以外，有一個行動者，默默地留守罷工現場，收集來自罷工工人的詩和歌。
這些工人聲音讓我們得以從另一道橋進入錯綜複雜的罷工時空，同時也讓我們知道一些扎鐵佬是怎樣跟人溝通的，正如其中一位罷工工人四眼明說過，我不懂說話，我只可以唱出來。于是他以客家山歌的韵律，打破繁榮的謊言，撕破資本家的面具。
還有支援罷工的不同人種，以錄影機、畫筆、照相機、吉他和大大小小的鼓，記事、批判、支援、激勵、言情…也是另一道溝通的橋。
這些罷工現場內外的熱鬧，構成了這次罷工的文化行動，盛載着直接行动以外的情和理，也就是你现在手里的‘撐扎鐵佬之文化行動’。 这张DVD收錄了罷工攝影隊製作的電影‘扎草根、鐵生花’，以罷工工人的詩歌製作的MTV和karaoke，和支援行動者的詩、歌、畫和照片。
而這張DVD售賣所得將撥捐‘支援扎鐵工人基金’，继续 撐他们！

In August and September 2007, the metal workers strike in the construction industry captivated the city and was front page news for a good part of the 36 days in both the commercial and independent media.
Walking through the jungle of analysis, an activist stayed at the core of direct action, collecting pieces of poetry and songs from the workers that were left unnoticed. What you have in your hand is the result of this collection, ‘Cultural Action — Support the Bar Bending Guys’.
The collection includes ‘Iron Born Roses’, a documentary on the strike, MTV and karaoke based on the workers’ songs and poems, as well as the songs, poems, paintings and photos from the supporters. It brings us into the workers’ vantage points expressed in their own way. Just as one of the striking workers, nicknamed ‘4-Eye Ming’, said so clearly, “I don’t know how to express myself. I can only sing this song.” Using the melody of Hakka mountain song, he strips off the masks worn by the capitalists, and reveals the lies and hype about development.
It also shows the many different types of people supporting the strikers, who using video cameras, paint brushes, still cameras and guitars and drums of all sizes, record the event, debating and criticizing it as well as encouraging the workers. All are trying to provide another bridge for understanding and communication.
All proceeds from the sale will therefore go to the Solidarity Fund for the Bar Bending Workers.
